Almost Done!

Well, it's been almost a year since I started this project, but it is almost completed.  Had some help this weekend from my bro-in-law, which I really needed with the roof.  All that's left is putting on the shingles, enclosing the underhang and finish the loft.  Oh, yeah, there's going to be a loft.  Here's what it looks like so far.
I'll cut out a couple of round windows above it, so she can lay down up there, and gaze out.  Here's what the playhouse looks like from the front porch of the cottage.
She wants to decorate the inside with fossils, animal bones and various other artifacts she's found on the property, and make it her archeologist's lab.  Strange little girl, huh?  Gosh, I love her!

  1. AWESOME. You are quite the handy man. A real labor of love. Beautiful piece of property you got there, Bubba.

  2. Thanks, Rique! It is a labour of love. But I will be glad to be done with it. Then I can move onto my next project. Converting one of the outlying sheds into an awesome man cave!

  3. Man cave!? Oh man, you are so tempting me, once it's done, to make a non-stop 24 hours driving straight through to the heart of Texas road trip to witness the excellence of your craftsmanship. Gotta do it.

  4. Ha! As soon as it's done, I'll give you a call! I'm thinking of outfitting it with bookshelves, a walk-in humidor, a well-stocked liquor cabinet, and some big beefy library chairs. Any other suggestions?

  5. Oooooooo. That is salivacious, even if it's not a word. A fireplace? Probably not too practical though in Texas, eh? How much space, square footage, are we talking?

A desk and a good lamp so you can have a peaceful place to concentrate, reflect, and write? I'm so overrun w/books I'd forego the walk-in humidor (unless you're like a huge cigar aficionado, in lieu of room for more shelves or a fridge stocked with beer. But hey that's just me. You gotta be you and do what's best for you. This is exciting, vicariously speaking.

  7. How could I have forgotten about the pool table? Gotta have that, or it won't qualify as a bona fide man cave!

  8. Damn straight right it won't, you Bubba man. And don't forget the darts. Or, in lieu of pool table (could get rather pricey), if you have enough space, you can always go ping pong. Bet your daughter would dig ping pong. Or a flatscreen with Wii? Hmmm?
